Key range/feature information:
- Expanding/reducing:
- Quick change “drop-in” type segmented tooling to change a tube I.D.
or O.D. Expansion utilizes segmented fingers and a tapered mandrel inside the
tube while reduction uses segmented jaws and a barrel on the outside of the
tube.
- ID/OD sizing:
- ID/OD sizing provides improved dimensional accuracy and shape control
of both the inside and outside of the tube. ID/OD tooling consists of inside
expanding fingers and outside reducing jaws that can be sequenced in any
order to produce tighter tolerance parts.
- Ram forming:
- To perform expanding, reducing, beading, flaring, and doming operations,
ram forming uses a set of vise jaws to securely hold the tube while the ram tool
creates the desired form.
- Parting, end-trimming, angle-cutting, radius-cutting, and radius scalloping:
- Tooling includes a pre-notch function to help reduce dimple deformation
at the point of blade entry. Tube trimming uses straight or contoured clamping
jaws to hold the tube during the parting or trimming operations.
